Notes from an Intern: Current Music News

The American Music Awards

Just last week the American Music Awards showcased performances by several noteworthy artists. In typical P!nk fashion, she amazed the crowd and viewers by performing while catapulting off the side of a building.

Other notable performances included Selena Gomez, who made her first appearance since her kidney transplant, and Christina Aguilera, who performed a Whitney Houston tribute. The show was hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, star of ABC’s Blackish, and daughter of Diana Ross. Tracee also received the AMA’s lifetime achievement award.

I thought the lineup for the night was the perfect blend of pop music as well as several other genres. They made sure to highlight the top songs in music right now as well as past hits and artists which made the show even more exciting to watch.

One of my favorite parts of the night was the duet performed by P!nk and Kelly Clarkson. They sang ‘Everybody Hurts’ and dedicated the performance to America's first responders after all of the loss we have had this year. It was emotional and powerful remembering all of the heroes the country has seen emerge this year. Overall the each award and performance left viewers amazed and entertained throughout the night.
