Hey all! My name is Ali Sluder and I'm Deep South’s Spring 2018 intern. I'm currently a senior at North Carolina State University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Fashion and Textile Management with a concentration in Product Development. I grew up with a passion for music and hope to bring what I have learned in the fashion arena to the music industry.
I'm excited to be taking over the Notes from an Intern series from Kathryn. This week I want to tell you about ANGLES, the music business panel.
Every first Wednesday of the month, Deep South hosts ANGLES: A Music Business Panel Discussion Series that features music industry professionals, musicians, and other individuals involved in the industry. We got hit with some snow in the beginning of January so last month's panel will be held this month. On Wednesday, February 7th, 2018 we'll be talking all things legal!
The topic of this month’s panel is everything you need to know about the legal side of the music industry. Legally protecting your craft is one of the most important aspects of being a musician, but some of the information can be confusing and complex.
Facilitating this month's panel will be Dave Rose, president and CEO of Deep South Entertainment. He will be joined by entertainment attorney Coe Ramsey, copyright and intellectual property attorney Karen Boardman, as well as musician and law student Mike Garrigan. This panel will be able to answer all of your burning questions regarding legal issues that might arise in your career.
